Giraffe Mage by drachenmagier Giraffe Mage by drachenmagier
Who said Giraffes can't be mages? Hey, they are PREDESTINED FOR IT! No other animal has that much neck-space for amulets! ;) Kinda like chosen ones since birth. XD

Was just a tiny bit hard to give them anything like opposable thumbs so they could hold the staff. Oo''

A present for ~MummyMetaller to lighten up the mood a bit. ^^ Hope you'll like it! (extra mouse for you. ;) With generations-old cheese-mage-staff. Sooo don't want to get close to that thing. XD )

Again, advanced crit highly appreciated, no matter in which way you want to give it. =^^=

Me, liking giraffes and all found this piece very interesting to look at. You do have a point in that giraffes are born mages to have so many amulets. It is very interesting to put bags on its neck and you managed with the hard task to give it opposite thumbs.

Vision:
It comes to me in a way very few artworks do. The whole image is very original and the mouse is a very nice touch to show that even the largest of creatures can have small friends.

Originality:
It is very original to have a giraffe anthro as a mage. I have never seen it before so I must say you have done very nicely at this piece.

Technique:
Full five stars for technique just because this piece it done by hand and not on computer. I'm not entirely sure what the exact media you have used but I think its water color. You really made the colors flow and blend nicely with each other so that the image looks almost real.

Impact:
The over all impact is best submitted in one word. That word is: wow. I have never seen a giraffe anthro this well drawn before. The detail is just astonishing and you managed to do so well with the giraffe anatomy. I will say that this piece is one of the finest pieces of art I’ve ever seen of a giraffe anthro.

A giraffe that is a mage. (Or is it a mage that is a giraffe?) That is amazing. Excuse me while I go show my friends.

I have to ask what media you used. Was that ink, colored pencil and watercolor? Or a little of everything?

Normally I mix whatever I have around. I start with watercolor for the bases, then work more on it with markers and colorpencils. In this one I added most of the details with watercolor and guache though. ^^

Nice. I admire the amount of detail you get working with a semi-uncontrollable media. Just used watercolor for a project. Not as easy as you make it look.

Actually, the media I use is normally very controllable. :D I'm a bit a controllfreak and hate to rely on accident and coincidence. Though it takes time, that's a fact.

Wooooooooow. Leave it to Dra to honor the giraffe in epic style. :D Awesome detail on this one. I can almost feel the softness of the cape. Intriguing armor, too - especially the helmet. Is that bone?

At first sight, I thought this was a commission for someone's book cover.

Giraffes: Best mages since endless space for necklaces. XD
Hm, either bone or some kind of ancient, now almost white wood. Both would work, since it does not really need to protect. :3

And I'd devinitely love to see that one as book cover. QWQ

Best part about fantasy drawings: There is always one thing to make sense of everything on it.

It's magic.

XD

Nah, j/k, I guess that critter would have a hard time with that staff. And thanks for the compliments.

Thanks! But it's basically watercolour and coloured pencils: I tend to apply a layer of watercolour and then go over it with powdered pencils and markers till it's even enough for me. :3
