Commission - the Lion and the Unicorn by drachenmagier Commission - the Lion and the Unicorn by drachenmagier
Commission for ~irtireditislate
A lion and an unicorn, fighting and in the form of the infinity-symbol. :D That was fun to draw! Not too easy till I had some kind of concept that didn't look like... they were doing something completely different from fighting though. d:
...
Sending that original out won't be easy. T^T I really like the mane.

Drawn while being bored during a cardrive, colored while listening to a weird mix of metal-versions of TV-songs and Neil's Puppet dreams. Note to self: Do not watch those anymore when having a flu. O,o Did weird stuff to my dreams.

edit: *wide grin* the first BAMF!Unicorn I ever drew~

drachenmagier, i this piece of artwork, its amazing and excellent, i love it so much! i love the colours and shapes of both lion and unicorn, i do like the blood coming of the shoe and paw, i didn't ever notice that you drawn the lion and unicorn to look and shape like the infinity symbol. i think you should of added a background to make it a more of a battle seen. i hope to see more artwork like this as it amazing and excellent, and your a really god artist and love all your artwork and i hope you keep the great and amazing artwork coming.

I didn’t notice the infinity symbol at first, which I think is a pity. It's cleverly implemented and fits the theme well.

It stays true to the medieval unicorn. I could argue, personally preferring them lithe, that its legs could have been a little longer and the head and torso smaller to balance it all up, since the stubby features are -almost- cutesy.

Like the lion's composition. It bugs me a little that it looks like its mane is covering its entire back like a carpet. I think with its right paw around the horn, the symbolism would be clearer.

XD I think any kind of unicorn would be in a tight spot if they did that. XD

Lovely. I like the way you colored the unicorn. Unique colors, but it works very well. :)

I just wrote you my first critique. I’m a little bummed that everything I wanted to write didn’t fit in there (a hundred words srsly?!), so I really had to cut corners. Mostly the praise had to suffer, as I wanted to be constructive in criticism.
But I wouldn’t have critiqued you if I didn’t think you could handle it. :) Here goes:

I love the concept so much that I'm a little jealous. This is one of these images I see and go: “why didn’t I think of that?” Classic stuff of fairytale, and your soft drawing portrays that beautifully.
For being your first unicorn it's not bad! I love the soft plumes and feathering.
The horn looks does de-attached from it, but I think that is because of the sharp shadow in the mane.
I kinda want to see this motif re-imagined as a tattoo.

No, it's a minimum of hundret words, not a max. :D
I saw it, thanks for the critique! Will get to it later on too~.

And I can handle almost everything when it comes to critiques. Even IF I feel peeved at first, I will let it settle and think about it for a few days. It's rare that I only get negative critique without anything behind it but trolling, so it's ALWAYS worth thinking about it. :D No matter how it sounded~.

And thank you very much for the compliments! =^^=
I can't really redo it as a tattoo, since it was a commission. But no one said you can't take the idea and try it out yourself. I certainly won't mind. ^^

Aw, stupid. Looks like I learned something today. XD
I kind of wish people would dare to critique more often. I'm here to improve, after all.

Might want to try my hand at something based on this concept. Someday. When I dare to draw a lion for the first time in ten years.

Always mention it in the comment (I keep forgetting that), because people tend to be scared to write anything negative otherwise. Heck, even when they use the critique feature, only one out of ten actually contains critique. :/ You'll have to search near and far to find a good critic.

I don't think I ever drew a lion (real lion, winged creatures do not count d: ) before.
