Commission for ~cuddly-evil A drawing of her LARP-Character. And - of course - a copy for her partner in the game.
It was very different to only work with shades of gray and red. I initially wanted to use more colors, but then that would have - somehow - seemed unfitting. So, gray and red it is. And all the colors in between for the shading.
Still on the Guild Wars II OST while drawing. I love it.
As I said in my previous comment this is quite lovely. Very detailed without being cluttered by using different shades and shadows to bring the little things forward- not an easy task at all and I'm certain it took you a decent bit of time what with your chosen medium.
I wanted to give you five stars on impact but the colors almost blend just a touch too much. The reds and browns shine through as dark and severe which is perfect but I would suggest perhaps more variation in your grays and illuminatory colors. That way there would be a slight more contrast and the figures would pop forward a bit more- BUT that aside the coloring is still rather awesome.
I gave you a four star on technique for only one reason, your source of lighting. I have this problem too where I put a light source behind my characters and then don't compensate with enough darkness behind that source and in front of everything else in front of it. Technique aside from that is wonderful. I love how well you drew her feet though I feel they are perhaps a touch big compared to her hands. The details on her dress and his hat are perhaps my favorite bits, the way you shadowed and illuminated those bits is spot perfect.
So very much. This is the short version of my summary if you're interested: [link] It's already written, the first draft, but it's in need of so much editing that I'm considering a total rewrite which may as well kill me, lol.
Okay, first, I know the characters should be my focus here, but I just can't stop looking at that background; those twisting branches. Second, that girl's hair... her dress... and one look at those legs and I'm guessing she can probably outrun the wind, and it must be very, very painful to be at the receiving end of her kick. Yet the look in her eyes appears more as though she would rather sit down and die than fight back. It feels somewhat like looking at someone caged who has long given up any hope of running free. Whatever the story is, I'm guessing though she could probably kill him at any time she won't as by doing so would result in something worse than being caged. And looking at her I'm also guessing you put quite an amount of love in drawing her.
Thank you, but if I happened to be spot on you can thank Dra for portraying your characters so well. Other than that though, in predicting and building a story, having studied storytelling as a hobby for 10 years while having grown up watching movies and playing RPG's for 15 years plus does have its advantages as well. But if you don't mind me asking, I'm a bit curious as to exactly what is his hold on her? That he holds a loved one would be too simple, and based on the illustration I'd guess her soul, or perhaps her memories? Or... perhaps a twist involving all three?

Overall a marvelous job. You deserve a cookie.
