Commission - Lucy by drachenmagier Commission - Lucy by drachenmagier
Rarely had that much fun with a commission. :D My thanks to ~elenxji for being such a great commissioner, always offering ideas and suggestions.

More Two Steps from Hell while drawing this, this time mostly Atlantis though. [link]

Original is A3, traditional media, watercolor, markers, fineliners and a bit acrylics (metallic and white). The halos are both drawn with gold colors, which are sadly not very visible on the scan. :)

o.O I love this! I can see why you had so much fun with it.

First of all, the colours are amazing! They all blend together well, and you can just see the light reflecting of it's wings. There is a lot of detail on this, especially on the halo. This I love :)

Another thing is the wings. They're truly angelic :D Or a little owl-like. I like it how you tinted the wings with that gold, it really fits in with the picture.

Possibly the only thing you could have worked on is the humans (?) anatomy. I thought the legs were a little long.

All and all, a great drawing. It's colourful and eye-catching. And that's all from me!

First of all, this piece is lovely. The attention to detail is exquisite! Your use of color is brilliant, and I love your blending. The pink clouds and the white wings provide some contrast, but this could be pushed further if you use more values. You've got great line variation, though this could be pushed further to give the character even more pop. Furthermore, had you chosen colors that were a bit brighter, the character would have popped further. Or, perhaps, making the background a bit less detailed would help, as it is a bit distracting.

Your character design is fantastic, and very detailed. His pose is very dynamic and powerful, and he fills the space nicely. There are a few issues with anatomy, however. His arms are quite bulky for his otherwise slender build, and his legs seem a tad long; however, the rest is spot on and very beautifully rendered. The lines in the background are wonderful and help to make this piece dynamic. Without them, it wouldn't be as entertaining to look at.

Overall, wonderful job. It's great to see new works from you!

Always a bit of a thing of bad manners to claim that the OC of someone else is a part of your family. ;) Especially when the owner of said OC has no idea who you are.

Do you have many people confusing it with Safer Sephiroth? For a second I thought it was, but saw the design differed.

Not too many, thankfully. Though I always had a faible for the designs of the FF-Series, so I take it as a compliment, when someone mentiones that. :D Though Safer Sephiroth has a different set of wings, a black wing instead of an arm and no legs. d:

Absolutely stunning!
That background must have been quite a lot of work.. I mean the scenery is simple enough not to steal the characters show, but it must have been so hard not to make it overlap with the character itself Oo
And dear god those wings! All the feathers would have been my worst nightmare but you did such a wonderful job on them! I really like how most of them blend into the wings and that you made the longest ones stand out in that brownish color. It compliments the bluish tint of the smaller feathers really nicely. :)
I also love the rays that come from the characters head. They make him seem even more god- or angel-like.
By the way what did you use for highlighting the clouds and the rays?  :)

Thank you very much! :D Actually, the clouds were not that hard. it's a simple and fast technique and when you cover the figure up with covering liquid, you don't have to worry about him in the way either. ^^

The clouds are highlighted with normal guache paint and - the thinner lines - some airbrush white applied with a quill. The rays on the other side are not made lighter but everything else around them darker. This way around it was easier to make them shine. ^^

And thank you again for all the wonderful compliments!

Thank you so much for the feedback and, again, wonderful painting!
